Preparing For Easter in Style

Posted by Leena Kollar on 16th Apr 2014

One of the holidays that I most see children dressed up for is Easter. And it's no wonder- it is a day of great importance. But beyond the reason for celebrating, there is a societal expectation for Easter fashion when it comes to kids. Little girls are supposed to wear colorful fancy dresses with fancy shoes and pull up their hair with pretty bows. Even at a young age, there is an unofficial beauty pageant competition happening amongst our little ones. (Actually, the competition is usually between the moms, not the daughters.) Luckily for those of us with sons, there is not as much pressure to fancify the wardrobe on Easter. Looking sharp is still important, but there is not the expectation of a pageant-esque ensemble. However, I must say that little boys wearing formal attire are some of the cutest people I have ever seen! For both boys and girls, Easter is a time of renewal. Not just in the spiritual sense, but also when it comes to fashion. Finding that perfect new outfit for the holidays can almost be considered a rite of passage for our youngsters, but they won't even come to appreciate it until they are too old to continue the tradition. So until they are able to understand the symbolism behind their Easter clothes, we as parents can guide them in choosing pieces that are fun, appropriate and in season. If you are still in need of some Easter gear for this year, you only have a few days left! You can find a great selection of Easter clothes at PinkPrincess. Here are a few pieces to consider. Pastels are like cockroaches when it comes to Easter- they will probably never die. And this year, pastels are big in grown up fashion land too. So this Mint Yoryu Chiffon Dress is a great choice for your precious Easter princess.

Your little guy doesn't have to feel left out- he can sport the green shade too, in this Striped Seersucker Eton & Shorts. The minty color is sweet and refreshing and the style of the outfit is sophisticated and trendy.
What I love about the color yellow is how cheery it makes me feel. I can't help but smile when I see something yellow. On Easter, we should all be smiling, so I love this Yellow Chiffon High Low Dress for girls.
For the guys, this Yellow Striped Seersucker Vest w/ Shorts is adorable. This ensemble is a good choice for those in warmer climates. The yellow will correspond beautifully with the rays of Mother Nature's sunshine.

Wishing you and yours a very happy, healthy and fashionable Easter!
